Greatest Little Hits I” is a retrospective of Susanna Ridler’s 2008 debut album [koe:r] – and at the same time an extension of it. The album brings together all original compositions from that recording, complemented by two previously unreleased pieces rediscovered in the archive from the same production period: “Aria Electrica” and “Time Goes By”.

Both were revisited, newly arranged and completed 18 years later, and released in advance as singles (“Aria Electrica” on December 24, 2025, “Time Goes By” on January 1, 2026).

"Aria Electrica", created in 2007 with soprano Monika Bruck, merges operatic lines with electronically processed staccato voices and beats – a compelling interplay between two worlds that, in today’s age of AI-generated music, appears almost visionary.

"Time Goes By", originally left unfinished, reflects the subjective sense of how quickly these 18 years have passed.

At the time, the album [koe:r] represented a contemporary exploration of electronica, pop and jazz, shaped by a melancholic, downbeat aesthetic in the spirit of trip hop. Sampling, sonic manipulation and digital studio techniques met Ridler’s distinctive voice, functioning both as a sonic element and as a carrier of the song. Interpretations of classics such as “Corcovado”, “Fever” and “Summertime” were also transformed onto a strikingly new musical level. The recording received wide media attention and was praised for its detailed electronica soundscapes and its unique balance of emotional depth and conceptual clarity.

[koe:r] emerged from Ridler’s search for an individual style between tradition and modernity. In collaboration with musicians from the Austrian jazz scene – including Peter Herbert, Wolfgang Puschnig, Thomas Gansch, Helmut Jasbar and Rainer Deixler – a distinctive sonic space began to take shape.

With “Greatest Little Hits I”, [koe:r] is made audible once again as a timeless document of a consistent artistic development.
This release marks the first chapter of an ongoing retrospective series. The retrospective continues with “Greatest Little Hits II”, to be released on March 20, 2026. A complementary release, “Covers”, will follow later in spring 2026.
